Giving a job-winning interview is not an easy task, Now in this tough competitive market, it is not a piece of cake to get your dream job. It has been reported that each corporate job opening receives 250 applications and only four to six applicants called for interviews and one receives the job. Now the question is how to mark yourself among those 4–6 persons while applying for a job, and during the interview how to be the one who finally gets the job. After reading this article you will be able to give a job-winning interview.

  1. Pre-interview research;

Before going for an interview, first of all, conduct pre-interview research in which you have to gather some knowledge regarding the company. find out answers to some basic questions like What’s the history of the company? What does it offer? Company’s social media presence and Company’s vision and mission.

  1. Alter Resume;

It is important to alter your resume according to the nature of the job. If the job is related to social work then you have you mention your social and volunteer work experience in detail in a separate section. If you don’t have a resume you can simply make an inspiring resume by reading this article.

  1. Prepare your documents;

Keep all the documents that you need for the interview. In some cases a resume is not for an interview i- e; if you are applying for a government job, you have to keep all your necessary documents. After that, Organize your documents and keep them in proper sequence.

  1. Location;

Before going to an interview confirm the location. Do you have to know where to go? how to go? Take information with the help of the internet and your friends, so that you can reach it easily and timely. Most of the candidates avoid this step and in the end, they failed because there might be some areas that they don’t know, and on the interview day they suffer a lot and don’t reach on time.

All interviews are not physical if your interview is online Check all the pieces of equipment needed for the interview, Ensure that your camera, laptop/computer, and the internet are working well. Ensure that there is proper lighting and peace, where you want to give your online interview.

  1. Practice Answering;

Stand in front of a mirror and practice answering all the common questions which could be asked in your interview. i-e; your introduction etc.

  1. Plan your questions;

The interview panel may ask you at the End for questions. Plan your questions already. Don’t ask such questions which are related to the basic roles of the company ( i-e; what your company does) it will have a bad impact and the employer can think that you don’t have any idea about the company.

  1. Plan mock interviews;

Plan mock interviews with the help of your family and peer groups. Ask them to conduct a mock interview, then review it and find out your mistakes. So you will be prepared for the interview.

  1. Dress properly;

It does not mean that you should wear expensive clothes for the interview. Your clothes price does not matter yet but how you have carried your dress affects your personality.

  • wear a neat and clean dress.
  • Don’t wear informal shoes ( i-e; joggers etc)
  • Avoid wearing bright colors i-e; red ties, shirts, etc)
  1. Be on time;

Don’t get late for the interview. This will show your time management and irresponsible behavior. Reach 5–10 minutes before the interview time.

  1. Silent your phone during the interview;

Keep your phone silent during the interview.It gives a very unprofessional impact if your phone starts ringing during the interview.

  1. Body language;

During the interview, your body language impacts greatly. most of the interview rejections were caused because of this factor. You have to give special attention to it.

  • Sitting style;

Sit properly with straight legs sitting style.

  • Face gestures;

Be calm and put a slight smile on your face.

  • Eye contact;

Keep eye contact while answering the questions.

Don’t use unprofessional words during the interview. Be professional and wise while choosing words for conversation i-e; oops I forgot to mention it. Also, use such words which are positive and professional

  1. Further details;

If the interviewer has asked such questions whose answers you have already mentioned in your resume, it means that he is asking for further details. You should explain and give more details that are not provided in the resume.

i-e Tell me about your 5 years experience as a teacher in ABC school, tell about your higher studies, etc.

  1. Interview Questions;

If the interviewer has asked a question that you have not prepared and you are not clear about the answer, don’t answer quickly. You can ask for further details of the question and for a time of 1–2 minutes to think and then you can answer by relating your knowledge and the details of the question which you have asked. If you have zero knowledge regarding the question then, you should not take time for thinking or answer randomly. You can simply say Apologies I do not know and move to the next question.

  1. Mention Your Strengths;

You should know what you are offering them. Mention your strengths for the job. While mentioning your strengths keep in mind that you are not using such words which shows that you are overconfident. i-e; I m perfect for this job, I can do it in a way that no one can, etc.

  1. Avoid cliches;

Avoid cliches during the interview. This can goes against you.

  • Be simple.
  • Be real.
  • Be natural
  • Don’t act overconfident.
  1. Avoid politics and religious talk;

During the interview, if the interviewer asks opinionative questions, avoid relating your examples with politics and religion. similarly, Avoid such topics and don’t show so much interest in such topics because the person in front of you may have a different opinion.

  1. Previous Job;
  • The interviewer may ask about your previous job experience. Don’t comment negatively on your previous work experience, employer, or environment.
  • Link your previous job experience, and expertise with this job, so you will be considered as a potential candidate.
  • Be positive while mentioning your previous work.
  1. Social Media Profile;

Nowadays many employers check the social media profile of the candidate before the interview.

  • Avoid sharing inappropriate social media accounts.
  • Don’t post negative content.
  • Keep your profile professional.
  1. Salary Negotiation;

It has been seen that some candidates don’t join the job because of low salary packages and during the interview they don’t negotiate on this thing. If you are thinking that the salary package is less you can negotiate in a calm way instead of keeping yourself quiet about it.

  1. Don’t Get Personal.

If you are having a friendly discussion during the interview, don’t ask personal questions to the interviewer even if the interviewer is familiar with you. The interviewer may also ask personal questions. Try to give answers positively and precisely Be calm and professional.

  1. Send Thanks Note;
